DearScenario

License & Commercial Use

DearScenario Player Core is free for commercial playback deployments. You can use it in exhibitions, museums, immersive rooms, kiosks, projection setups, show-control systems, and client projects without a per-screen or per-device fee.

This page explains the commercial-use model in plain language. It is not a replacement for the Terms of Service and EULA, but it should help you quickly understand what is free, what is allowed, and what may become paid work.

Free for playback deployments

The standalone DearScenario Player playback endpoint is free to install and use for local media playback, fullscreen output, network control, Web Console access, basic configuration, local logs, and offline operation.

There is no free-versus-pro feature split for the core player. The free player is not a trial, and it does not hide playback, masking, control, or recovery features behind a license.

No per-device fee

You can deploy one player or many players. A single-screen install and a multi-node exhibition use the same free player, with no per-device fee and no per-screen tax.

DearScenario Player is designed for control-system integration, so your architecture should not have to change just because a venue adds more displays.

No account or online activation

DearScenario Player runs locally and does not require an account, license key, subscription, license server, or online activation. It does not need to phone home to keep playing.

This matters for venues where playback machines are offline, isolated on a show network, or installed in places where internet access is unreliable.

What you can do

What you cannot do

What may be paid

DearScenario Player Core is free standalone software. Paid work may include professional support, deployment assistance, custom engineering, enterprise support, non-standard hardware adaptation, fleet-management features, cloud services, or future DearScenario products. See Custom Deployments & Services for project scope and contact.

Those paid services are optional. The core player will continue to work on its own if you only need a local playback endpoint.

Why it is free

DearScenario Player is the playback endpoint we want exhibition and show-control systems to be able to rely on. Keeping the player free makes it easier to deploy, test, and integrate across real venues.

Our commercial focus is on optional higher-level control software, support, deployment help, custom integration, and future advanced services. The local player is useful to us when it is widely deployable and easy to trust.

Formal terms

For the legal contract, read the DearScenario Player EULA. If this plain-language summary conflicts with the EULA, the EULA takes precedence.
